Gender-specificity of Uzbek youth slang

The article analyzes the gender characteristics of the use of slang in the speech of Uzbek youth. The study studies the oral and written slang units widespread among young people and determines the extent and form of their manifestation in the speech of girls and boys. The results of the analysis, conducted on the basis of sociolinguistic and linguopragmatic approaches, show that gender-related factors (social status, level of friendship, communicative situation) play an important role in the choice of slang. It is also observed that slang is used more as a means of expressiveness and humor in men's speech, and as a sign of emotional expression and group affiliation in women's speech. The article statistically analyzes the data collected based on the interview and observation methods and identifies gender-specific trends in the use of slang. The results of the study provide a basis for a deeper study of gender and communication issues in linguistics.
